"I think I'm in a love-hate relationship… with my phone."
That realization last summer sparked something big. I put my phone down, picked up a pencil, and began to write — for real.
I’m excited to share the public release of Life We Lead — an original song and thought-provoking music video about our complicated relationship with technology, and how beautiful life can be when we look up from the screens.
Backstory
Last summer, I stepped away from social media for three months. Without the constant noise, my mind felt clearer and more creative than ever — though I quickly realized I was also missing important news and events. The experience taught me that quitting cold turkey isn’t realistic, but mindful engagement is powerful. That’s the message I wanted this project to carry.
Production Process
I wrote and produced the song, collaborating with Brian Stiroh on an electronic arrangement for the verses and chorus. Later, I composed and produced an outro piece that shifts from electronic to acoustic — a sonic metaphor for technology “stripping away” until only natural sounds remain.
This idea then grew into a production concept that bridges the worlds of music video, narrative film, and public service announcement. I teamed up with Christopher Ortiz as producer, and together we led a four-month production to bring that vision to life.
